The Boys & Girls Club of Wells opened its doors in 2017 and was located in the old Head Start House at
518 Dover Street.
In July 2018 the William N. Pennington Foundation donated $1,468,087 to build the new William N. Pennington Boys & Girls Club in Wells which opened its doors in February 2019.
Today, the William N. Pennington Boys & Girls Club of Wells is the headquarters for school-age care,
youth sports, summer camp, and community events.
The STEM Center houses a computer lab with a focus on exploring science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
The Club hosts a gymnasium equipped with volleyball, interactive inflatables, PE curriculum, intramurals, and sport activities.
Homework assistance and educational advancement mentoring are available every day through the Project Learn program. Our aim is to ensure that all Club Members graduate from high school on time, ready for a post-secondary education and a 21st century career. Utilization of the Wells Branch Library is a major part of the curriculum.
The Center includes a full teaching kitchen and Life Skills activities. These initiatives develop young people's capacity to engage in positive behaviors that nurture their own well-being, set personal goals and live successfully as self-sufficient adults.
The Boys & Girls Club offers a wide range of wellness activities including nutrition, health, outings to the City of Wells Pool, and outdoor exercise and games. Our Positive Action curriculum improves self-concept and healthy choices.
